Our Programs

Waverly's, in collaboration with Country Meat Co Marketplace, is tackling food insecurity and promoting health and wellness head-on.

Waverly's Go and Grow bags provided by Country Meat Co Marketplace are weekly deliveries of non-perishable, ready-to-eat food items along with valuable resources that promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices. These bags aim to support families by offering practical solutions to help them maintain well-balanced diets and make informed decisions about their health and wellness.
The program serves participants from several childcare centers across the city of Cincinnati, ensuring that children and their families have consistent access to essential food supplies and educational materials. Each month, a nurse and a nutritionist collaborate directly with families to offer personalized guidance and support, helping them address any specific needs or challenges they may face. This holistic approach ensures families receive both the nutritional resources and the ongoing support necessary to create lasting, positive changes in their daily lives.
Wake with Waverly's provides nutritious breakfast items to parents, recognizing that many parents often prioritize their children's needs over their own and may skip meals in the process. By offering a convenient, healthy breakfast option, we aim to support parents' well-being and encourage them to make healthier choices right from the start of their day. This initiative not only provides essential nourishment but also serves as an opportunity to promote long-term changes in shopping habits and meal planning, ultimately fostering better nutrition for the entire family.
By ensuring parents have access to balanced, ready-to-eat breakfast options, we hope to inspire a shift toward more mindful eating habits, where parents prioritize their own health as much as they do for their children. This program also provides educational resources on the importance of breakfast and how to integrate healthier choices into daily routines, empowering parents to make sustainable improvements to their family's overall diet and lifestyle.

Waverly's Healthy Minute Meals is an interactive, hands-on program designed to empower participants to make healthier, budget-friendly meal choices. Led by a skilled chef, a nutritionist, and a local nurse, this program offers a comprehensive approach to family nutrition and well-being. The chef will guide participants step-by-step in preparing healthy, flavorful, and affordable meals, demonstrating practical cooking techniques that make it easier to eat well on a budget.
Each cooking session will include both pre- and post-event assessments, blood pressure checks and BMI measurements, ensuring that participants have a clear understanding of their health status and progress throughout the program. In addition, a nurse will be on hand during each event to provide personalized health support and answer any questions about nutrition, wellness, or medical concerns.
To further support participants, families will receive ingredients to prepare several meals at home, along with valuable, budget-conscious shopping advice from Country Meat Co Marketplace. This partnership ensures that families not only learn how to cook healthy meals but also gain the skills needed to make smarter grocery shopping decisions, improving their overall health and well-being. The program fosters long-term positive changes by teaching families to incorporate nutritious, cost-effective meals into their everyday lives, all while receiving ongoing health guidance and support.

Waverly's CDA and Beyond is committed to creating a pipeline of skilled African Americans and people of color in the child care field through our program, Waverly’s CDA and Beyond. This initiative offers 480 hours of paid on-the-job training, 120 hours of classroom instruction, and comprehensive support for participants preparing for the Child Development Associate (CDA) exam. Our program includes assistance with completing the CDA portfolio, tutoring, and mentorship, ensuring participants are equipped to succeed in the child care industry. Once participants earn their CDA, we assist with job placement and provide ongoing mentorship to support their growth and career development, empowering them to negotiate higher wages and pursue opportunities in child care administration or as entrepreneurs.
The program targets individuals from underrepresented communities, particularly those living within the poverty guideline, and works with participants as young as high school juniors to ignite a passion for education. Waverly's CDA and Beyond benefits local child care facilities by providing trained, credentialed staff, saving them time and money on training costs. Families benefit from high-quality care, and local school systems see positive outcomes as children enter school socially and academically prepared. Additionally, we provide resources and educational classes to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education, further supporting the development of both children and families across Cincinnati and surrounding communities.
